Purse trio progress

I had planned to just sit and stitch until the weekend but I needed to move my behind too, so in between cleaning and cooking and shopping, and one visit to mom's, I did get one of the purses embellished.
Although I pieced one and a half (until I ran out of bobbin thread and gave up) I only embellished one and a piece of another. This is my progress so far.
I finished piecing the third one so I will assemble the first one above and add clasp then continue on the second which is waiting for me in my comfy chair before I begin on the third.

Mom called the other morning and I still had the deep scratchy morning voice that I get when I haven't spoken to anyone yet,LOL. She asked if I was sick and I said no, just a frog. Well, these arrived later that day.

She is impossible! I wish she wouldn't spend her money on me. I did love the surprise though and the flowers are such a mood brightener. Can you tell whats on her mind? Our beloved Michigan!
Off to stitch....make it a good day!

  2. Your are so blessed to still have your Mom, and she obviously loves you so much. I miss my parents and so wish they were still here. I took care of them the last 9 and 10 years of their lives. I had promised them they would never go into a Nursing Home and I managed to keep that promise. My Dad had Alzheimer's for 16 years, and they came to live with me because I couldn't take my Mom crying on the phone from Florida. It took me 3 years to convince her to sell the house and come to New Hampshire. A year after they moved in with me my Dad had a stroke. He spent 6 months in rehab. which were very tough on my Mom. The social workers didn't want him to move back home with me because they didn't believe I could take care of him even though I had spent 20 years as a Nurse. I fought them and won. If I had to I would do it all over again. My Dad lost his battle in July 2005, and my Mom died in July 2006, she missed him so much. I believe they are back together again.

I better just dive in and stop agonizing! I keep saying that, but don't do it...hmmm....I throw my fear away!

  7. And, I am really missing my Mother. It will be five years in March, since she passed away. I have been dreaming about her and wanting to ask her questions about things and share things with her. Your flowers are beautiful. I am sure you are enjoying them!

  8. You and your mom have such a wonderful connection. Those flowers are beautiful. I think of you and wonder how much snow do you have? We have none and the ski resort above me is suffering. Strange weather I think.

  9. Okay, Pat,
I keep coming back to look at this ....I may just have to buy THIS purse it if is for sale. I know one I would make would NOT look like yours! You did inspire me to get out a kit I purchased from Shannon of Sweet Inspirations, you know her well, and decided how I would put it together. THAT is something! So, when I finish the other....gazillion! projects I have in progress...HA!, I wills tart this one. But I miht need to get sidetracked and start it sooner!
    hugs,
    Betsy

  10. Love your sewing and embroidery. Everyone thinks I'm sick in the a.m. Because of my voice too, especially my Mom. The flowers are wonderful.
