Finished the neck pouch

I finished the neck pouch this morning. The piece I had for the side didn't work very well so I left it empty. There is a lot going on with the velvet leaf and all so I am leaving it alone.
Thank you for the nice comments. Yes, I believe it is a Morning Glory. The dragonfly is from Flights of Fancy Boutique.

Now its time for coffee then a visit with mom. Her Physical therapist is coming today. She has already learned a pain free way to get out of her chair without the lift. Making progress.
Have a wonderful day!

Embellishing in the afternoon

The sun has been shining all day and after taking a little walk outside I decided I should sew up a cheerful project. I chose this print with trumpet flowers of some sort. Of course I had to toss in a few roses. After I pieced the neck pouch I sat in the living room with the sun shining on my work. I must say there just isn't better lighting than what mother nature provides. After a few hours I completed the embellishing and put it together. I will save the clasp addition until tomorrow. I have something I want to add to the empty right side.
Enough for me today, time for dinner and a bubble bath!

A few projects

This first piece is a pouch/swing purse I started a while back and misplaced it. I was so happy to have found it last week hidden in my black fabric drawer????? I finished it for someone who loves Halloween and witches. It is just a fun thing she could use while attending a party to hold her "eye of newt" or put in her collection of Halloween stuff. I used the Kreinik hologram thread to decorate the skirt. The sparkle was just right. The upper left corner has a metallic trim with AB crystals that sparkle various colors although it doesn't show up in the photo. That was from the bridal section at Vogue fabrics in Evanston, IL. The black cat sequin is from Cartwright sequins. Love that company! I secured the sequin with the bright orange petite beads. This next item is a little coin purse with one of my favorite purple hat ladies. I added one of the tatted butterflies from my friend in Singapore, Wendy Shu. She is a talented tatter and has shared numerous pieces of her work with me through the years. The silver tone clasp is from Bag lady.

Newbie's~ If you look closely you will see missing sequins at the bottom right. This is because I don't add beads and sequins to the outer edges until after the piece is sewn to prevent breaking a needle.

For those who enjoyed the first issue of Crazy Quilt Gatherings magazine, wait until you open the next issue. Continued fun and inspiration is all I'm saying!

I had better get busy....enjoy your Sunday!

"Watch" out for a new CQ project for CQGatherings readers

I thought I would give you a heads up on a crazy quilt project that will be in the next issue of Crazy Quilt Gatherings magazine. It will require a watch face with the bar attachments on each side instead of the pins like the one shown here.
I bought the one above at Michael's for under $10.00 however there are many online sources such as this one. I just thought I would let you know in case you wanted to make the project and gather your supplies early :-)

Friend looking for this quilt

Hey fellow bloggers, a friend of mine thinks she saw this baby quilt on a blog from my sidebar links. I'm afraid I haven't seen it but if this is your quilt or you know who's it is, could you please email me or leave a comment on this post? Thank you :-)

Beautiful New book of collage

I wanted to give a shout out to Lovey on the recent release of her new book "Fabric Photo memories". It is a beautifully put together piece of inspiration for anyone who enjoys vintage lace, vintage images, rich fabrics, and decorative stitches. Lovey's art may be created with her hands however the major part of her work flows directly form her heart as you can see on her blog. Lovey's inspiration comes from her mother's memory which still drives her passion after 5 years and happens to be her muse. Lovey dedicates her work to her dear mother and I'm sure she is smiling down at her beautiful and creative daughter as each fabric is selected and each stitch is lovingly placed. Tutorials on various applications, beautiful photos, encouraging words are just a few treats this book holds for the reader. I know you will enjoy Lovey's book, it is a treasure and so is she.
