Sunshine and snow and a follower giveaway!

It is so pretty outside. The sun is shining and we have a new covering of snow so it looks very clean, but that will be short lived with the sunshine. Soon the roads will return to dirty messy yuck. So I am enjoying the view for now....winter wonderland. If I were 6 again and had my sled waxed I would be sliding down the back hill right now :-)

I just returned from taking mom's Christmas tree down. Taking down one tree is bad enough, but twice...ugh! I was happy to get mine put away and the room cleaned and rearranged last week so I knew mom would enjoy a fresh clean house. Last week she twisted and put her back out and she just wouldn't sit down so I threatened to leave everything half finished and go home just to make her stop. When did I become the parent?

I sat her in a chair and wrapped each ornament as she placed them in the storage boxes. Then I swept, mopped, dusted and tossed in a load of laundry before we sat down for tea. We discussed our first trip to Michigan when Spring arrives as we watched the beautiful Cardinals enjoying fresh birdseed. Their bright red feathers against the white fluffy snow just makes you smile.

It seems the 400th follower arrived without me knowing it so.....it is time for a giveaway. I will go gather some stash and start sewing a little project then have the drawing from the followers list. Good luck and I will post the winner and the prize by tomorrow or Tuesday!

  1. The Christmas tree...so exciting to put up! But, the coming down is another story. Although with all the decorations packed away the house does look bigger and brighter!

  2. It always leaves me feeling a little sad when I have to take the Christmas decorations down. But at the same time, it gets me thinking about Spring, and that is rather nice.

  3. This is the first year I was kind of sad to take the tree down. Usually I just dig right in and get it done! But this year I waited over a week. But now all is finished and the house is shiny and clean! Ready to start sewing!
Happy New Year to you and your mother Pat.

  5. Sounds like a perfect day you spent with your mum - it's just so nice to have her back home isn't it.

I know what you mean about packing up the decorations, and the tree. It seems to take forever doesn't it. But once it is done, the tree put outside, the cards taken down, and all the cleaning and dusting done, and everything packed away - you can sit back with a nice cup of tea and relax, with the great sastisfaction of a job well done, and the house looking spic and span.

So I guess doing it twice you feel doubley (sp) virtuous.

Congratulations on your 400th follower - just shows how much you are appreciated and how special you are.

  7. I don't mind putting my tree away, it's the rest of the house un-decorating that makes me crazy! Perhaps because I clean as I go and it takes hours and hours. I probably feel the same way about the tree if I had to do two of them though!

  9. My next house, I want a big cupboard where I can wheel in the Christmas tree after the holidays and let it sit until next Christmas!

  10. I love decorating for Christmas, however, the older I get the less I want the hassle of putting everything away.
Therefore I decorate less and less.
And miss ALL the wonderful decorations.
    Sad situation.

    Hugs, Gerry
