I found a surprise on my porch

I had to take a second look when I was on the front porch this afternoon and something purple caught my eye. I could hardly believe it when I saw this.........
The other Wisteria bloomed!!!!! Then I found one more bloom that hasn't turned purple yet. I am in shock! How crazy is this?
Then I looked across the street and saw this little deer snacking in the soybean field.
The neighborhood started celebrating the 4th a day early. Last night the skies were filled with beautiful sparks of color and booms. I sat on the front porch swing with a virgin frozen strawberry Daiquiri and enjoyed the free show. At this moment I am listening to another round of fireworks only this time I am sitting on my bed watching "The Gates". It is still too humid out to enjoy another show and it is almost 10:00. Being so humid and warm this late I bet it is going to be another scorcher tomorrow. I guess I'll slather on the sunscreen and float the day away again. Enjoy your long weekend if you get one.

Where has the week gone?

It sure has been a fast week. It seems all I have done this week is get mail. My talented friend Lisa spoiled me with a package of gorgeous hand dyed applique's, a bag of embellishments and a cute handmade doll. This certainly made me want to start several new projects!!! Thank you so much for all the beautiful things Lisa!
.
My Sis In Law, Elizabeth, from IL sent this newspaper...........
....which made me laugh. She has no idea I blogged about this when it came out last week. I was happy to have the actual paper to read the full article.  Such a neat little place and a talented gal.

My goodies arrived from Connecting Threads, a sponsor of the PieceWorks heart contest. I found some tools that will come in handy. PieceWorks sent me a copy of the magazine and I was surprised to see a few other crazy quilted hearts entered. Yeah for crazy quilting!!!!!

Today I worked on a nightlight shade while waiting for the VERIZON phone repair man alllllllllllllll morning then decided to call at 2:00. After 15 minutes of a computer voice I actually got to speak to a living person. Imagine that! I was so shocked it startled me. How sad is that? First she informed me that Verizon was now FRONTIER.????? What? When? Why? Oh Geez Louise!
She told me a repair man was in the area and would be there until 8:00. I don't really care, just fix my phone. It has been messed up for two weeks now. Incoming calls can hear me but I can't hear them. The cell phone really came in handy. I wonder if I will get compensated for no phone for two weeks....I won't hold my breath. Sorry if I sound as if my feathers were ruffled, they were. When I call someone I prefer to speak to a person, not punch a bunch of numbers when asked questions by a computer. This is progress? I won't even tell you how long it took me to report this problem last week after waiting a week in hopes it would fix itself. Calgon..take me away!

I had better go make a cup of tea and continue stitching before I take my frustrations out on my poor laptop.
I wish you all a better day than I had. Tomorrow will be much better...I know it will.

Quilt show in MI

Last Saturday was very hot and somewhat humid as I ventured to a quilt show with mom. I was glad to know we would be in an air conditioned building.Although I was familiar with the vicinity because the Herb Barn was off the same exit, I thought it would be a good time to try out my GPS. It worked just fine and now I am planning a trip with mom 4 hours into Michigan very soon to a crazy quilt shop. I can hardly wait!
Could you tell we were attending a quilt show? They covered this car with quilt blocks.

We arrived at the show and I was happy to see my sweet friend Leslie right away. She greeted us and met mom for the first time. As we started looking at the handiwork from the guild Leslie brought me over an antique quilt piece she found at an antique mall. It was four blocks of beautiful worn silks sewn together.
It is brighter in person. I may have it framed to prevent further wear. Thank you for this beautiful piece of history Leslie!
I couldn't take a step without being drawn to a few quilts, three in particular...I saw this one and recognized the fabric (Kaffe Fassett).
I love his fabrics and apparently so does the maker of this quilt who happened to be none other than....Leslie! I love how she allowed the fabric to speak for itself with simple borders and beautiful stitching. As I read the quilt information I learned it was the last quilt she had the pleasure of working on with her mom who passed away last Aug. It was sad but what a beautiful memento of time spent together.

Then I spotted this striking black and white  quilt with a touch of green and pink which set it off nicely...

Also by Leslie. Then I turned around, took a few steps and was drawn to this one...
again, one of Leslie's. I don't read the quilt info unless I am interested in the quilts but all three of these drew me in before knowing who made them. Keep in mind the true colors and detail was not picked up by my camera.
We wandered about and shopped a little before heading back out into the heat. We both agreed we should head home and visit St. Joe on a cooler day so off we went toward home. We couldn't resist stopping at a few tag sales along our path.

It was a very enjoyable outing with mom, courtesy of Sweet Leslie. Thank you so much for everything. I hope you won a prize or more because your quilts were fantastic.Sorry for my awful photography skills.
