Progress on a few more projects

WOW! I just updated the Comfort Doll blog today and guess what arrived in today's mail? 27 more dolls from Noel Poupard. She also tucked in a beautiful beaded goddess for moi and a gorgeous purple fabric postcard. Goodness has that woman ever been busy.

I wanted to quickly post my progress from today. It doesn't seem like much, but I have been sewing all afternoon.
This one I just started to embellish. It will be a neck pouch with clasp.
This blue one is a small coin purse with a clasp that has a connected key chain. I just had to give her a tiny vintage rose montee earring. I hope to find more of those clasps at the International Quilt festival the 17th! I can't wait!!! My yearly adventure into Chicago.

The purple case will have an open top and will also be a neck pouch. I think this image is so pretty. She has strawberry blond/red hair which looks great with the purple I think.

Cathy Kizerian sent her puzzle pieces which is posted now on the blog. Cathy also slipped in some beautiful vintage laces from her antiquing ventures. Thank you Cathy, you shouldn't have my dear, but you know I will put them to good use! :-) I found the angel wings!!!! :-)

That's it for me today...bath.....sleep...and do it all again tomorrow!

Busy times

Its hopping around here!

I spent the morning sewing, and Brenda just left with her night lights. She liked them, so I was relieved. Since they are personalized items, I chose not to post without permission. I forgot to ask her...whoops!

I am also creating several small items for a new venue. Chesterton will be opening a new large indoor marketplace for small merchants and artists to sell their offerings. It will be the Saw Grass Marketplace. Easy to access from I94 or the Toll road. It is air conditioned and they include tiered tables and free Wi-Fi. Lots of large windows and lots of room to roam and browse.

I was approached by the owner last week and have been thinking about giving it a try. I will hopefully be joining Sue and Wendy in this venture. We all do a variety of work so it should be a fun and interesting booth.

Yesterday I whipped together a swing purse, which needs a few mors touches and assembled...... ....and three small amulets (2 1/4"x3")which I embellished last night and will assemble this evening. I add beaded fringe to the bottoms to be worn as jewelry yet offers a pouch to tuck in some cash or a lipstick. Today I am working on neck purses. Tomorrow I will make slide pendants.
I plan on working all week in my studio so I can have something to offer. I figure if it works out, fine, and if not, at least we gave it a shot. It is only 4 miles from my home so that is great.

Eleven adorable Comfort Dolls arrived as well as4 beautiful puzzle pieces from Cathy Kizerian on Saturday, so I must get busy and post those on their appropriate blogs so I can continue my creating! Have a great day.

Congrats to SUE!!!

I just have to give a shout out to my peep Sue Vrska this morning. Her neffew, Jay Cutler is the new quarterback for the Chicago Bears!!!! Go Jay! That must be exciting to have a member of your family play for the Bears. Living so close to Chicago, everyone around here root for them. Not only is that great news, but now Sue will have her sis close by. That will be wonderful for her!

You all know I am not a sports person, but it is exciting to share in my friend's excitement. It may even make me watch the games with DH!!!! After Sue phoned and DH was about to watch TV, I said oh turn on the news, I wonder if they will announce the Bears new quarterback. DH whipped his head around so quickly as if I had turned into a one eyed green alien, and asked what I just said.

Anything about any sport coming from me is like purple pigs flying, it doesn't happen. I repeated my words and added, it will be Jay Cutler. He burst out, no, Jay Cutler was playing for the Broncos. No, I calmly replied, he is now playing for the Bears. He shook his head and looked at me weird. Then I explained that he was Sue's neffew. Sorry for the long story, but you should have seen his confusion. Me talking sports, and actually knowing something he didn't. Loved it! Thanks for the heads up Sue, it was fun. Go Bears!!!!

Fun day...surprises...

Yesterday my plans to finish the last minute touches on the tags fell through , as did my plans to work on night light shades for my sis. It all started..........................

In the land of Patsville, all was calm. All domestic tasks were completed early , sewing projects were awaiting finishing touches, and I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of a friend. Although it started out being chilly and overcast, the sun popped out and the air warmed to 61 degrees.
My friend Leslie, whom I met through DH, and is friends with my sis (sister in spirit) whom I was recently reunited with, is an exceptional needle woman. When I first met her many years ago, she was designing for the really nice cross stitch magazines. Leslie is a tiny beauty whose personality is warm, welcoming, and energetic. Last week she was joining a friend on a venture to a wonderful fabric shop in MI where she lives, and asked if she could pick anything up for me. I thought that was awfully sweet of her. Naturally, the only thing I really search for is Silk Dupioni, so I requested any if she runs across it. Yesterday Leslie had to attend a funeral here in town so she delivered her finds. Beautiful Dupioni in three shades of purple and my favorite green...I wonder how she knew I loved purple? She also selected two beautiful purple trims. Arent' they pretty? Leslie thoughtfully brought two of her books featuring crazy quilts for me to borrow and enjoy. I thumbed through one and it is loaded with quilts to peruse with a pot of tea this evening. Yes, I was in heaven. How often do you have stash delivered to you, and exactly what you would have chosen? Well, unfortunately our meeting was short however we will be getting together soon for a play day. I can't wait! I have something fun planned.

After the wonderful lunch with Marlene the day before, and Leslie's visit, I couldn't imagine my good fortune could continue much longer. It did! Mom phoned and asked if I wanted to go to the beach..duh! YES! I grabbed a jacket and pinned up my hair and headed North. It wasn't cold or warm, but the winds were fairly strong and that didn't stop us. Surprisingly, there were many treasures to be found as you can see. A few were toss backs but I took them anyway. The bottle cap find seems silly, but it is DH's favorite beer, and with the influence of Wendy and Sue, my peeps, I thought I could use it for somethingy arty. :-)

No blue glass, but a small purple one (grandma was there). Actually, purple glass is actually clear in its original state and the sun turns it a purple tint as it ages.
Mom found two large shells for me and all I found for her was a bit of smoothed brown crock. I felt bad so I surprised her with lunch. We sat by a pond in town and had lunch and conversation. We laughed because we both kept yawning. She hasn't been feeling herself because her sis isn't doing very well. She only has one sibling and they don't get to see each other very much. After our few hours together, she was perky again.

After settling in back home I started on the night lights, then I got chilled and grabbed a quilt in my comfy chair and thought I would rest my eyes for a moment while the guys were watching TV. Well, that was at 4:30pm, and I awoke at 9:00 pm. I have never fallen asleep in the afternoon, or in a chair before. I'm blaming it on the fresh cool air and wind from the beach trip ok? LOL. I was just talking to someone about naps, and how I just can't seem to make myself take a nap although I heard everyone should try to take a nap to regenerize the body daily. Hmmm. I don't have enough time as it is, how will I manage a nap?
Needless to say, nothing was accomplished but hey! Today is another day. After I run an errand with mom, I will stitch, and possibly finish.

The tags are awaiting their eyelets, and I think that is all they need. I think this is my favorite. It reminds me of the wild roses that grow along the country roads. When I'm riding my bike, I stop and collect the rose buds. They make nice dried buds to string for garland or a necklace because they are so fragrant and tiny. You can't really pick the open roses because the petals fall off immediately. They can be used for rose beads though.

Time for a bite to eat and start the day. I hope you all have a great day, and send vibes my way to finish my projects please...:-)

Hob Lob finds

I forgot to share the neat things I found at Hobby Lobby. I love dress forms, and this one serves as a display for the fun necklaces I receive and make. They come in several sizes and three colors. These hands are on sale this week....50% off. RUN...don't walk!!!
I am going back for the shortest one to hold business cards.

I found these tags in a large assortment bag. I thought they would be sweet on display in my studio. My pal Laney gave me the shoe holder. Yesterday I had such a nice lunch with Marlene. She shared the felted pieces she was working on. I wish I had taken my camera. They were excellent. The best I've seen actually. She even felted a raccoon in a tree which she made from fabrics. It was a show piece. It looked so real.
She wanted to put a dragonfly on one of her feted pieces so I showed her three of my favorite methods.
It was very pleasant, and the salad I had was so good however I was talking so much, I had to get it wrapped to go,LOL. I have never had craisins in a salad before, but that is a great way to sneak them in.
I am off to put the eyelets in the tags and fiddle a bit with them. The more I studied them, the more I liked them plain. Home is the theme, so I guess it should be the focal point. I'll know when the eyelets go in if something else should be added.
After that I plan on stitching a bit on some lampshade for my sis, and by then I should have visitors arriving. Busy day ahead...better get going!
