In search of a product......................

Hey crafty bloggers......does anyone know where to buy the stiff double sided fusible stuff that shrinks ? You iron it under your fabric like velvet and it will shrink it while leaving lovely texture. I think it is called Peltex????? It isn't the stuff at Hobby Lobby or Joann fabrics because although it is stiff and fusible it does not shrink. Any help is very much appreciated. TIA!!!!

  1. I think you do mean Peltex. Some people complain about the shrinking!

  2. Pat, There is a product called Texture Magic by Superior Threads that you sew to the fabric, apply steam, and the fabric shrinks approximately 30% creating a textured effect. Peltex is by Pellon and I couldn't find any that corresponds with your question, but they may make something too. Contact me if you need a source. Maureen

  3. Peltex is a stiff interfacing like Timtex or Stiffy Stuff. What you want is Solvron from Nifty Notions. It is ironed between 2 fabrics creating a sandwich, stitched, then emmersed briefly in warm 140 degree water causing your fabric to pull up into itself. www.quiltersresource.com is the website listed on the packaging

  4. I'm with Maureen - in UK we can get this in 30% or 15% shrinkage both have given very consistent results on various materials. I have used the solvron method as well but find it is very hittymissy (ie unpredictable) as well as being messy and not good on velvet or organzas.

is a representative of the product and has a tutorial on a quilt on this site. As well she had a Patriotic Star Pillow on Moda Bake Shop blog that had a great tutorial on using the product too.
