Porter County fair...here I come!

My friend Lelia stopped by the other day and talked to me about entering a project(s) in the fair. I had previously thought about it for a moment but not too seriously. I thought it would be fun because I was 12 when I entered my last item in the fair. I remember my wildlife poster, tube painted pillowcases, brownies, skirt (was a disaster),etc from 4-H days.

So....I am off to enter some things this morning. It's all about a childhood memory of fun times from years past.
So, if you are at the Porter County fair...look for some CQ goodies! I will be in great company because Lelia will be entering goodies as well as other members from NANI(Needle Artisans of Northwest Indiana)
I'm off to the fair!!!!!
Thanks for the nudge Lelia!!!!

  2. Seems I'm always gaining some sweet memories from your inspiring posts. And this one is no different! My daughters and I entered items in the fair back when they were in 4-H and leaning to knit. At home, I taught them needlepoint, embroidery, and all sorts of crafts. We still have some of those lovely ribbons saved! Have fun with this! I think you'll love the experience!

  3. County Fairs are always fun. I'm sure you and your friends pieces will be "STAND OUTS". I'm finishing my two pieces for the Lake County IL fair, due next week Sunday.

Enjoy the cotton candy, popcorn, funnel cakes etc.!!!! Post your ribbons :-)

  7. I have been looking for the "Sew Somerset" magazine but cannot find it anywhere. I have a question about CQ bangles- what do you use for a "base"? Do you purchase a wooden or plastic bangle and then cover it?

  8. Hello Pat, I have no idea what the lower message is about or the problem. Just hope it has not harmed you or your lovely site.
Good luck with the fair, used to love those when I lived in Texas.
I am going to quilt festival in Houston this year to scope it out. Teaching there next year, other venues too. Will keep you posted.
Hope you do the Frida challenge.

  10. I cannot wait!!! The building will be open on Friday after the foods are judged. Jan thought maybe 2 or 3pm.
I will be in Peru, Indiana on Friday.
I hope to get to the building Sat or Sun and view the exhibits
My stuff is small & I enter for fun.
I usually am more excited when my GFs win, than when I am awarded a ribbon. I think b/c I know where the boo-boos are in my own stuff : )
