My bird arrived from Nellie!! Puzzle piece

The beautiful bird that I won from Nellie Durand in the OWOH giveaway has arrived. DH came in carrying a big box for me. I saw this beautiful package as I opened the box. And then....ta da!! "Nellie"....I named her Nellie. It is a sweet name, and of course she had to be named after her creator.
Thank you Nellie. I adore her. Her beak, holding the ribbon, her eyes, legs, feet, wing detail...every inch! She is beautiful!!!!

Well, it got me....somewhere between yesterday afternoon and today I have come down with a miserable head cold. My eyes are watery and I have used a half box of menthol tissues. DH left orders for me to relax while he ran errands but I wasn't tired, just a bit dizzy so I gathered my hand sanitizer, tissue box, Echinacea tea, puzzle piece and some embellishments and headed for the couch with angell. There went my plans for attending the Open house at the Art Center. DH was even going to go with me.

I have been wanting a lap desk to work on while watching TV with DH and I tried it out today. Why didn't I think of this earlier? It was so nice having a flat surface to work on while curled up in a chair. There are little areas for beads and threads so they stay put, and a clamp for flat items. I slipped a package of the new satin Mill Hill beads in there. Have you seen the new line of Mill Hill beads from Wichelt ? They added 34 new bead colors in antique satin, petite, pebble and seed beads. Beautiful!

This is my first puzzle piece for the "Pieces of Friendship" exchange. I can't help thinking about Spring's arrival, so I chose a nest theme. I have to hide my beading thread where I attached the copper bird charm, and back it.I will finish the edges tomorrow. My eyes need a rest. Just as I was finishing up, DH came home with lunch , DVD's , and a bottle of wine for me. Now that was so sweet. I saw the commercial again last night for "Quarantine" and remarked about wanting to see it. Tonight I will watch it with a small glass of wine.....if I stay awake.
I have to get better so I can visit my pal Jill who had knee surgery yesterday, and my sis on Tuesday...oh dear!

Have a great evening everyone.

  2. I'm glad to hear that "Nellie" arrived. I'm honored to have another namesake. My name was also used for another bird I gifted to a friend in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Your CQ puzzle piece is a "WOW" ... and, yes, lap desks are wonderful to doing handwork in an easy chair. Mine is much used.

Hope your cold is short lived.
